What do you need to obtain a PKK number?
Before enrolling on a Category B driving course, you must obtain a Driver Candidate Profile, known in Poland as PKK. Prepare the following documents:
- an application for a driving licence
- an identity document
- a medical certificate confirming that there are no health-related reasons preventing you from driving
- a recent 35×45 mm driving licence photo
- written consent from a parent or legal guardian if you are under 18
How to obtain a Category B driving licence in 7 steps
Follow the process from the medical examination and creation of your PKK profile through to the state tests and collection of your driving licence.
Step 1
Complete the medical examination
- Book an appointment with a doctor authorised to examine drivers
- Bring your identity document
- Tell the doctor about any medical conditions, medication and whether you wear glasses or contact lenses
- Collect your medical certificate after the examination
Step 2
Have your driving licence photo taken
- The photo should have been taken no more than 6 months before you submit your application
- The required photo size is 35×45 mm
- Your face should be directed straight towards the camera
- The background should be plain and light-coloured

Submit your application and obtain a PKK number
- Attach your medical certificate, photo and any other required documents
- Submit the application to the authority responsible for your place of residence

- You need at least 68 out of 74 points to pass the theory test
- The practical test includes tasks in the manoeuvring area followed by driving in normal traffic
- You can book your test online or directly through the examination centre
- In Wrocław, state driving tests are conducted by the Dolnośląski Ośrodek Ruchu Drogowego
Step 7
Pay for and collect your driving licence
- Pay the driving licence issuance fee according to the instructions provided by your local authority
- Check the progress of your licence through the Info-Car service
- The licence is usually ready within 9 working days after the payment has been confirmed
- You can collect the document in person or receive it by post if that option was selected
